Dr. Erin Seefeldt, MD is a board certified comprehensive ophthalmologist with advanced expertise in refractive and cataract surgery. With more than a decade of experience and thousands of procedures performed, she brings a steady, highly skilled approach to every patient and every decision. She completed her medical training through the military health system, including medical school at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and ophthalmology residency at Madigan Army Medical Center, then served as Assistant clinical professor where she trained and coached surgeons. Today, she continues to teach the next generation of Washington Ophthalmologists as an Associate Clinical Professor for the University of Washington while providing modern, patient focused care at Evergreen Eye Center in Federal Way, serving patients from Shelton to Seattle. A commitment to education. To be able to teach surgery is an honor. Dr. Seefeldt has always had a passion for learning. Teaching fellow doctors in clinic and surgery keeps her on the forefront of innovation and fosters an appreciation for the learning process and the awe of surgery. The beginners mindset in experienced hands is an awesome thing. She is currently an Associate Clinical Professor for the University of Washington.

A servant leader. Doctor Seefeldt is a Retired Army Colonel. During her 24 years of service she traveled and served in many places around the world with amazing people. The leadership experiences of leading a platoon, deployments and operating in challenging conditions, have given her an understanding of the complexity and nuance of leading teams of all types. She loves caring for fellow veterans and hopes she never has to jump out of a plane again.

Dr. Seefeldt is committed to global ophthalmology. Among the most rewarding of her experiences was providing cataract surgery and training surgeons in South America and the Caribbean. Providing surgery in underserved areas of the world is reinvigorating. She has had the opportunity to learn from and train amazing surgeons and colleagues around the world. Sharing her 20+ years of leadership and 10+ years of surgical experience, she helped provide thousands of cataract surgeries to those in need.

When not in clinic or the OR Dr. Seefeldt enjoys hiking and kayaking with her family, friends and dogs. On quiet or rainy days art and painting are her joy, a creative outlet and balance to the detail required of microsurgery and healthcare.

Why Eye Surgery?

A journey of purpose and connection

Patients often ask why I became an ophthalmologist. During medical school, I rotated through many specialties and genuinely enjoyed most of them. At one point, I was convinced I would choose orthopedic surgery. Then I started my ophthalmology rotation and everything became clear.

I realized how deeply vision shapes quality of life, safety, and independence. I listened to artists describe how vision makes their creativity possible, and grandparents share how much it matters to see their grandkids and watch their games. I met people who wanted to stay active, keep up with hobbies, and continue doing what they love. Protecting and improving vision can reduce falls and support better health across the lifespan.

I love partnering with people to protect their sight, reach their vision goals, and feel confident in the care they receive. I also love the teamwork and focus of the operating room and I am grateful every day to do this work with an outstanding team.
